The legendary “gelandewagen”, the G class… It looks almost the same as 30 years ago. The new G class combines the best of old and new – tested and proven mechanics with the latest technology and electronics, and under the hood … Under the hood lies the devil himself - eight-cylinder petrol engine with two turbines and all the power of brute force that the human mind can imagine.
Now we are not talking about an ordinary G class. We are talking about Mercedes – Benz G 63 AMG! Precisely, the second most powerful version of G class AMG models. Tron holds a brand new model with twelve bi-turbo petrol engine G 65 AMG with 612 hp. The version that we present has “only” 544 hp. But offers a huge amount of fun. It starts when you turn the ignition key. Symphony produced by AMG eight-cylinder engine of 5.5 liters is the music for the ears of every true car enthusiasts.
While out of the side exhaust pours fire, under the hood can be heard growling tigers.

This orchestra is quite sufficient. Someone has a need for the sound system in the vehicle? Me not. However, the G-class sound system is superb. Renewed V8 has two turbines, 544 hp and torque of 760 nm. It was matched with the gearbox borrowed from the SLS AMG. Besides the gearbox, from the SLS were borrowed instrument board and center console. Driving experience, however, is unique.
The factory data: it takes 5.4 seconds up to 100 km/h , top speed 210 km/h. What factory data cannot describe is driving pleasure. It feels amazing. It’s like riding a dragon.
This amount of power is difficult to control even in the modern, lightweight, aerodynamic and low coupé. How to drive the giant with more than 2.5 tons of weight and nearly two meters high? Each entrance in the curve is a struggle to control. Each press of the gas pedal launches the G class powerfully forward.
Powerful brakes, 375 mm diameter front and 330 mm rear, react with a delay. So be careful. Passengers must all the time hold the old handholds. There is no true lateral support. Of course, electronics prevents loss of control. ESP responds promptly and decisively.
Sporty ESP is not the only connection with the present time. The new G 63 AMG offers to driver all possible driving assistance. There is a warning for approaching vehicles from an dead angle integrated in the side mirrors.

Command online infoteiment with a navigation system and internet access. There are also active cruise control and parking assistance with camera and parking sensors. The parking assistance is more than welcome.
All disadvantages fall into the background in front of the one simple idea - to put the extremely strong engine in the 30 years old SUV.
This is contrary to reason. And this is precisely the trump card AMG variants. This car is not for everyone. The price is more than 140,000 €. For such price the fuel consumption is not important.
